1956: First Female Full Professor

Physicist Berta Karlik is able to habilitate in 1937 unhindered. While the careers of many women are at the very least disrupted by Austrofascism and Nazism, she becomes a university assistant, then a lecturer. In 1945, she takes over the leadership of the Radium Institute, and becomes an associate professor in 1946. Finally, she receives a full professorship in 1956.
